Alexander Barton Woodside là giáo sư danh dự ngành Lịch sử Trung Hoa và Đông Nam Á tại Đại học British Columbia (Canada). Ông cũng từng là giáo sư Lịch sử Việt Nam tại Đại học Harvard. Alexander là tác giả của nhiều đầu sách: Lost Modernities: China, Vietnam, Korea, and the Hazards of World History: Moral Order and the Question of Change: Essays on Southeast Asian Thought; Community and Revolution in Modern Vietnam.
